The path to WrestleMania for Kurt Angle was well speculated, the moment he debuted he re-entered the ring after seventeen years to team up with Shield at TLC. Things became clearer, when Survivor Series 2017 culminated with one of the most shock endings of a match that night. Triple H, for no obvious reason pedigreed Kurt Angle and thus turned against his own team, and helping his brother-in-law Shane-O-Mac to pin him. However, the night did not end then and there, and neither did the twists. He helped Shane up to his feet, only to pedigree him, and win the match for his team, leaving him and Braun Strowman as the last survivors, and pinning the brand supremacy on Raw. The night did not end for the King of Kings on a high note either as he received a running powerslam from Braun, twice. But that’s a story for some other time.
The following night on Raw, Stephanie’s celebration was cut short when Angle confronted Triple H and said that if Triple H stabbed him again, he wouldn’t care about his job and would be coming after Triple H.
Fast forward to Elimination Chamber; Ronda Rousey signs her WWE contract. But in the process, Kurt puts out some really nice backstage talk by Stephanie and Triple H. He (in a pipebomb by CM Punk manner) revealed that getting Ronda to sign the Raw’s Contract was a part of the elaborate plan by the Authority to get back at Ronda, for what she did to Steph at WrestleMania 31. And now that they have Ronda signed the contract, they now “own the (b)witch!”(PG much!?). Which resulted in Stephanie slapping Ronda, and Ronda, being the badass she is, putting Triple H through the table. The following night on Raw, Stephanie wanted Ronda to apologise for what she did at the Chamber, and even made Kurt testify that he wasn’t in his right mind yesterday, and whatever he said last night was just hey-say. Ronda said, that everything else aside, still there was no justification for why Steph slapped Ronda and this encounter was spoiled again by an intervening Triple H. As they exited the ring, Triple H retaliated with a sucker punch to Kurt Angle, and bailed while Rousey tended to the Raw general manager.
The following week, Steph announced that Ronda according to the contract still has a match at the WrestleMania, against an opponent of her choosing, except for the Championship Title match. Considering all the past events, Rousey called out Stephanie for the match at WrestleMania. Triple H being the loyal husband that he is, interfered again by citing that Steph is a WWE executive, and that executives don’t wrestle. Kurt then followed up by saying that it is true that Stephanie has an executive contract with WWE, but guess what other contract she has with the WWE, it is as a Superstar of the Raw roster. This reminded him of one other person with the contract as a Superstar of the WWE, it is Triple H. He said “I am the GM and I make matches!” So finally with all the speculation and buzz around Rousey’s Match at WrestleMania, it is Stephanie McMahon and Triple H versus Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle! Oh it’s true, it’s damn true!
It was nice of WWE writers to put up some past angles into the play and book a match, which can only be expected to be a showstopper with Superstars of this magnitude making it happen. Kurt followed up on his where he gave Triple H an ultimatum to not mess with him again. Rousey and Stephanie also have some unfinished business from WrestleMania 31. And the classis reveal by Angle at the contract signing was just pure fire to the sparks.
Kurt and Triple H have had some phenomenal matches in the past as well, which have been worthy of being called all-time greats. But now that they are now wrestling each other after so many years, it will be nostalgic and interesting to see whether the Angle Lock still has the power to decimate the King of Kings. Ronda on the other hand will be facing a much more experienced wrestler in Stephanie. Ronda is a fighter, no doubt, but the wrestling and sports entertainment are as new to her as to a debutant. So it will be intriguing to see what move-set she brings to WWE, and also if we might witness the infamous arm bar once again.
Early Prediction of Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle vs Stephanie McMahon and Triple H Match
Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle are going to win this mixed match tag team match. This would establish Ronda right where she belongs; as a decimating force that everyone should be careful about. Moreover, it would also help her momentum going post Wrestlemania, and we might even see her shot straight to Championship scene after this. After all, superstar of her stature is what fans might be expecting to break Asuka streak, post Mania, and this seems logical enough too, from the perspective of the WWE writers.
